tummy ache

I just wolfed down two cheeseburgers and my tummy hurts now. I became too excited while I was screaming FRAPPUCHINO!!! at the people on Jeopardy. I hope this apple pie will settle it. Mmmm...comfort food.

moon cakes and crystal stamps

It's the moon festival today, yesterday Milla and I had wandered towards Chinatown so I went and picked up one, single, solitary moon cake to celebrate with. I know I make myself sound sad and lonely but I actually don't really like moon cakes too much. I like the crust, but I'm not a big fan of the various fillings. So Alex, Milla and I will share this one cake. Plus one cake was $5! That's pretty expensive for something that I don't even really like I spoke to my mother and told her I bought one and she asked if they should mail any over...i replied: Oh no. I'm okay. In my head i was thinking: please no!

While I was talking to my mother she also mentioned these Swarovski crystal postage stamps, availible in Austria and was asking me to find the page on line for her to check it out. I went ahead and ordered two booklets of the stamps for her. I'll send them over while my daddy is away on his biznass trip. i'll bet you anything that she will yell at me for wasting money. What's a couple of Euros? My mom never wants anything so I always run out and buy stuff if she wants something. Then she yells at me.

transfering data

I've been working on moving files from my old computer to my new computer and the process is extremely long and time consuming. It's not the actual transferring of data that makes it slow, but the fact that I want to stop and look at every single file I transfer. It's odd how fascinated i am by all the junk that is on my computer. I still have no idea how to use this thing but i'm trying to organize it as best as I can. I set up little folders for the different pics that I have and organized my music. It was a little strange when I came across pictures of I.F. They were all fairly new pics, since I've only had the cam since May, and he had his new (well I guess it's not new anymore), short stormtrooper 'do. I was looking at him and thinking, who is this dude? And I wanted to go grab another disk that I knew had old pictures of us on it. From a time when he was just nameless instead of the vaguely mentioned about I.F. that I have sporadically spoken about in some of my posts (and subversly talked about in most of them). When everything was unicorns and cotton candy and other sickly fanstatical things. I dreamed of milkshakes, of someday, of princes and ballerinas and those kinds of things. But I left the disc in the case. I knew where it was, and if I really wanted to see them I knew where to seek them out. Besides it was that guy in those pictures that i no longer knew. Not new I.F., who isn't different, but just a litte sleeker on the outside. Later today i'm just going to upload some documents and then I've got to stop f'ing around and clean my house and do some homework.

wireless in the city

i'm sitting here blogging from Milla and Alex's watching SATC (it's for Alex's project).

I finally went to get my eyebrows waxed, never has a waxing felt so good. Kelly, my wax lady yelled at me and told me not to bleach my eyebrows to match my hair because lighter eyebrows made my face look chubby. So now I know. I haven't had my eyebrows waxed since the beginning of July, I still remember because that day I was mistaken for Pocahontas.

now we are about to order Swiss Chalet...ahhhh an exciting night in the city.

It has arrived!

I ibook is here. Oddly after the initial excitement wore off I found myself mourning the passing my my desktop. That computer has been with me since 1998, when I first moved downtown. Out of habit I had gone out and returned and plopped myself down right in front of the computer and went to check my e-mail, but then I realised that this computer was no longer hooked up to the internet. USELESS! Was the first thought to my head and I was so sad! It's not useless it has my half completed novel, my photography, essays, e-mail addresses, etc...it has 6 years of information on it. I went to e-mail ppl from my the ibook and i realised i had no e-mail address. After all the info has been transferred over my computer will be retired over to Milla's house. I feel like i'm losing a close friend! Poor desktop computer. :(

Bell Sympatico...you mofo's

I don't know why my internet access has to be so annoying. So i've been with Sympatico since 2000 and been on highspeed for who knows how long, the man on the phone said since 2002 but i don't believe that i got it that late. Anyhow, regardless, I've been a sympatico customer for a long time, and the rate for my high speed access has been around $44 a month. Now I get this letter, which arrive in a plastic bag cos it was mauled in transit saying that my student discount on my internet is expiring and that they will raise the prices of my high speed access. First of all, what student discount have I been on? Since I signed up the rate has been $44.

On the letter it says I can get access fro $44.95. A whole .95 cents more than what i'm paying now. I thought this isn't right. I've been a customer for how long? So I call and the guy says he can give me a rate of $49! I was like what are you kidding me? Does Sympatico just pull prices out of the air? No one will give a consistent price on how much high speed internet is. Then the guy got annoyed with me, I could hear it in his tone of voice and I mentioned it, "are you annoyed with me? if you don't want to assist me please transfer me to someone who will." Dude I'm paying you to be a polite to me, not nice...just polite. Sudden he says he can give me my access for $39!

So apprently sympatico can just tell you whatever price they want to tell you for their internet service. There is no set rate! And what are my options? stay with stupid sympatico or switch to the evil empire of rogers? I should just call up sympatico and tell them I want to cancel and see what they say? Maybe the price will magically shrink again!

pilate!

Yay! I just got around to reading my e-mails from yesterday and I saw that Milla had invited Alex and I to go to the opening of the new OCAD building. I read the invite to see if there would be free food, but instead I saw something better! Pilate...live!!!!!

Everything but my laptop just came this morning so I can read all the lit and be ready to go once it gets here!

I was speaking to Brad, who is in Caracas, Venezuela now for work and he was almost robbed yesterday. He was riding in a taxi with the window down and a scooter pulled up next to them and the dude tried to snatch Brad's Palm right out of his hand! The struggled for a bit and the guy almost wiped out but recovered and got away!

there is just too much excitement for me this morning. I'm ready to go back to bed.

the north american tour

I was checking on apple.ca for the status of my laptop and it shipped two days ago from Taiwan. Now it's on a tour of North America before it arrives at my doorstop. I checked out the FedEx shipping and my package has gone from Taiwan to Anchorage Alaksa, to Memphis Tenn, and has now arrived in Winnepeg.

The wireless router thingee has taken a somewhat different route, it only come out of Rancho Cordova, it travelled to Oakland, Memphis and is now in Mississauga. My computer parts have travelled more on their own than some ppl! It is their vacation before they arrive here.

young love

was watching tv with Milla in her room when i heard the distinctive sound of a skateboard whizzing by at a high speed, it sent shivers of delight down my spine. ahhh... the young skater boy, still dear to my heart. the long hair, their superhero-like agility, their cool sneaks. i think i'm just a 14-year-old girl trapped in a 24-year-old's body.

batman

I was blog surfing and came across angry asian man's blog. As I read through the site i found a post about the new WB Batman cartoon. I was quite excited. I watched the intro to the show and it looked pretty good, Catwoman looked very cool, Joker was creepy but still hot, there were lots of explosions and the detective in it is an asian chick (whom i hope is less annoying than Dana)!

psycho

Milla and I were channel surfing tonight after SNL and we found some wierd movie that we assumed was a Jason film. We stopped there watched this person murder some kid who was trying to crawl out of a basement window and then it went to commercial. We chit chatted for a while and when the movie returned it seemed to have changed, from cheese 80s slasher, to Hitchock. We were so confused, wasn't this Jason? Now it's Norman Bates? But why is it in colour? Is it the remake? No, the people are form the 80s. Then we theorized that it was maybe something like Psycho II, if that existed. I'm still thinking about it so I looked it up on the tv guide and it was Psycho II, which was to be followed by Psycho III...all starring Anthony Perkins. I didn't check if there was a Psycho IV on after, but I know now that it exists. What is my fasination with attractive psychos?

Bitten

No, it's not a typo. I was bitten last night! I went out with Milla and Boson to see a sitar man and his digeridoo playing wife perform last night. They were amazing, the energy they put out and the music they created together. It was very enjoyable. Later on this small Asian man began to speak to us and when i turned around for a moment he bit me. I saw Milla and Akiko's reaction before I actually felt the pain on my bicep. I had my blazer on so it wasn't teeth on skin contact...but still! Who gets bitten by a little Asian man on friday night?

what the hell?

do people have no sense of propriety? since when is it okay to jsut show up at someone's door on a wednesday night at 1am and have it be okay? even thought I was expecting this person, i didn't think they would show up at my door at 1am and call me and let the phone ring endlessly. You would think after 4 rings they would hang up. but no, they let it ring 50 more times before hanging up and calling again. what the hell? who does sort of thing? any person would look up and see my lights out and not call. but nope. not this person. we'll call until she has no choice but to get up and yell at me. yup that sounds like a plan. geez

calm blue ocean

my mantra frot he week has been calm blue ocean. i keep on reapeating it to myself anytime i want to throttle someone or bang my head against the wall. I'm still shaking from the outburst I just had.

I left to go to the bank to pay the minimum payment on my tuition fees and then head to class. Today was the deadline for the fees or they would unenroll me. So I went to the bank with my mother's visa and my invoice as I have done in the past years andthis time that fucker at the bank woudln't take it. I got him to get my bank lady and she wouldn't take it either. You see. I don't trust myself with a visa. I have had issues before. So instead I use my mothers, I still pay for it, but it is the threat of her possibly seeing the bill that keeps me from buying...oh say pink plad pumps that I don't really need. So then i lost it. I started crying right in the bank. The bank lady was kind enough to run off and get me a box of tissues (which i stuffed in my backpack) and i had a breakdown right there in the bank. it was no issue the last few years so I figured it would be no issue today.

As I left the bank I called Junky who was super kind, she didn't understand a word i said the first time, and i repeated it to her and then theorized on how she has a chip in her brain that people monitor (probablay major league baseball). then my concierge saw my crying and I relayed the story to him and broke down crying again. He was so kind and offered to help in anyway possilbe...same as Junky. Then I went upstairs to my house and freaked out and cried some more while i tried to reach my registrar's office. By some miracle they answered and gave me until monday to pay. so i guess UofT isn't all horrible. The kind lady at the registrar's office (who has the same surname as me...but apparently my last name is the chinese version of Jones or Smith or Brown...you get the idea) even just let me do the minimum payment for 1 course, even though i'm now registered in 1 1/2.

I'm a little calmer now, still mumbling calm blue ocean over and over but at least I can still go to school. Now I got to see about this job issue. I need to make money so i can pay my bank and then take my business elsewhere. calm blue ocean.

school

well i'm back to school now and after much debate on wether I would even go, I went. The walk up to school was horrible, I'm incredibly out of shape, I was all sweaty from a 15 minute walk! Then I got there and my somewhat estranged bestfriend called me. We are having issues for a couple of months now, mostly my fault, but partly his issue for not understand...but anyhow, he called me to harass me to go to a concert in October. First of all, anyone who knows me knows i freak out at any mention of commitment. He wanted me to commit to a concert all the way in October! I said no and we yelled on the phone for a while.

my frist class was this history course, that has maybe only 10 white people in it, all the rest are asian. The prof seemed quite excited about the subject which is always make the class more enjoyable. My lil bro from England, K is in the class. So it's a reunion of sorts for us. He is graduating this year! All grown up!

the next class I went to was this creative writing class I've been tryign to get. There are only 15 people in the class and none of them wanted to drop it so i was out of luck there. The prof is this cool native guy and he kept on saying 'right on'. which I've decided I need to say more.

all in all, school wasn't too too bad. people are much friendlier than I remember them to be, everyone was very chatty and it distracted me quite well from the mounting stresses. So maybe Boston was right, I do just need to get out of the house. I left my house for 5 hours yesterday, that is amazing! And I'm still alive and well. Who would have known.

another UofT rant

I'm still so pissed about this stupid UofT thing. I know things will work themselves out but still, this is ridiculous. I was saying to Milla last night that it was unfair that I, as a non-degree student have last choice at the courses. Normal enrollment starts in july for 4th year, then it begins the next week for 3rd year, and the next for 2nd year and so on. Then non-degree students get 3 days at the very end of august. 3 DAYS! to try and find a course. I think i was lucky to even get into one. I think it's so unfair that we get to pick up whatever is left over and we still have to pay the same price as the regular students. Milla agreed that it was unfair, I'm alumni, I shouldn't be fucked over like this but i am. And then UofT has the fucking balls to send me alumni letters asking me for donations. YOU BLEED ME DRY FOR 4 YEARS! ISN'T THAT ENOUGH??

thus is my rant for today. thank you.

UofT sucks ass

I haven't set foot on campus yet but I have already decided that UofT sucks. First of all it's a huge school and it's fucking overcrowded now. I can't find a course i want to take, then when i find one that is mildly interesting I can't get into it. I'm not the only one with this problem. At first I thought it was because I'm a non-degree student now, and I had to enroll after everyone else did, but now I'm finding that others are having the same issues as me. As I type Kel and I are freaking out about finding a class. I need 2 more and the possibility of that seems slim. I even asked on of my profs to open up enrollment in his course so I could at least enroll and apply for OSAP but the waiting list for that class is 75 people! WHAT THE HELL? If there is not enough room then why admit so many ppl? If you're goign to admit that many people have more courses! I'm pissed. UofT bites.

close encounters of the cheesy kind

Milla and I were wandering home and discussing the mild breech in etiquette that had just taken place when we decided to stop for cigarettes. We wanted to avoid the City Schoomze thingee and so our plan was to get cigs at this convinence store and then head up thru the park home. As we walked in there I saw Ben Mulroney the cheesiest yuppie on television wander out of the aisle an into the line. I, ever so non-discreet turn an 180 and hiss to Milla "It's Ben Mulroney" and break out in a loud I'm-a-big-drunk-trucker laugh (that i didn't even know I had in me). I didn't realise that anyone could exude this much cheese and I could not keep a straight face around him.

We both cracked up as we walked up the far aisle, across the back one and tried to compose ourselves to make our way back down towards the line. I figured by then he would be gone but he wasn't! We cracked up again and had to go hide in the next aisle over. How rude would it be if some girls just came up to you and burst out laughing. So instead of being rude we looked like two giant wierdos standing in the tampon/chips section of the convience store. He's much taller than I thought he would be. I wonder why I couldn't look at him without laughing?

Reality Bites

I don't know what compelled me to stick Reality Bites into my vcr (yes i still have one of those) but I did and it was supreme nostalgia! At first I was quite dissapointed. This had been my favourite movie? This is so lame! Ethan Hawke wasn't as gorgeous as I remembered, their issues and problems weren't as dramatic as they had been at 14 (when i first viewed it). I was watching a film that represented, to me at 14, what I thought my life would be like in the early 20s. I think I was dissapointed because that had all passed for me. The angst, the undcertaintly, the trying to start life your own way without any role models. It was two totally different sorts of nostalgies (i'm assuming that that is the plural).

The first was the time warp kind, what the world was like in the early 90s, what issues were big, what movie stars were big, then parts of my life from that time started to trickle in as well. Then it was nostalgia part two, I started thinking about what my life was like when I was the same age as Lelaina and Troy, keen and fresh out of university. My favourite quote:

"I might do mean things and I might hurt you and I might run away without your permission and you might hate me forever. I know that scares the shit out of you cos I'm the only good thing that you have."

During my hiatus I watched quite a few movies:

Look to the stars
Let hope burn in your eyes
And we'll love and we'll hate and we'll die
All to no avail, all to no avail

This is the last time I'll abandon you
And this is
The last time I'll forget you
I wish I could

One day

I worked up the courage to look at the NY Times Women's Fall Fashion mag yesterday. I was very excited when James gave it to me (along with the Times Mag which i also devoured (and tiraded over) yesterday while in denial of illness) but i hid it cos i knew I would become sad becos of my lack of income does not allow me to buy clothing. Come late evening I looked anyways. It was a mix of amusement and sighs. For example, I was amused by the useage of Teenage Waistband as a caption to one 19-year-old designer's clothes. I sighed when I saw the new Dior rasta bag. I just kept saying to myself. one day. one day. one day. thank goodness there was minimal tweed coverage in the mag. the piece i am after this fall is a tweed blazer. i can't wait for OSAP!
