jeopardy

i'm beginning to think that they leaked the rumour that ken jennings would loose on jeopardy when he reached around the 2 mil mark, he left off on friday with $2.1 million. So now all of us suckers are stuck watnchign another week to see if he loses and whom he will finally lose to. they've managed to make jeopardy some sort of juicy drama within a gameshow. there is definitly tension going on with alex and ken, i sense some sort of weird hostility and even contempt when alex speaks to him. Sometimes Ken just goads him on and soemtims ken is just lame.

disarray

Less than a week after my cousin's departure my place has falling into extreme dissarry. My poor plant smells all swampy, I need to change the water in that. The dishes are piling up again, and the clothes are scattered (in a slightly orderly fashion where i can still find stuff i want to do a sniff test). Ahhh it's feeling like home again.

Buddhists are great!

My cousin managed to get us tickets to see the show that she is touring with. It was the Buddha's Light International Association's North American Buddhist Music Festival. Her orchestera (the Taipei Municipal Chinese Classical Orchestra) accompanied the buddhist monastic choir. There were even dancers. We arrived and found that are seats were even further up in the front that I had thought. We were in row D, but with the way that Roy Thompson Hall is set up, we were pretty much second row. And the night just kept on getting better and better from there. The performances were amazing, they were all bilingual in Madarin and in English, there were little skits to go along with the choir and each bit was better and better than the next one. Then...just as we thought it was over Master hsing Yun came out!! You may have seen him on TV on the Chinese channel, they always have his little talks in between shows. It was so exciting! I've seen him on tv for so many years. I kept on saying, it's that dude from tv!!! And then he spoke and told us that tonight's chants weren't just entertianment but they were also blessings and wishes of good will. He instructed us to take our blessings and good will home to our family and friends and spread it. So here i am doing so.

Afterwards I went to meet my cousin backstage where all the monks and nuns we encountered were so nice and so friendly. My cousin brought me a bouquet of the yellow roses that were given to the performers. The perfect way to end off a great night.

impressed

I'm quite impressed with the Bosox. Who would have thought that i would actually live to see them, 1. beat the Yankees when it really counts and 2. make it to the world series.

this gives me hope that one day...maybe one day...that the leafs might actually make it to the Stanley Cup. I just really hope that I won't have to wait nearly a century. I don't think I have that long.

heartbreak diet?

I really hate to admit it, but I am still really torn up about this whole douchebag situation. Outwardly I think i'm dealing with it much better than back in the spring. Inwardly, I'm not so sure. I've been losing weight, and I have no idea how. Milla suggested that perhaps it was the heartbreak that was making all of us shed the pounds. Slowly we will keep wasting away until one day there is just a poof and we dissapear into nothingness.

Ok, really I'm just being overly dramatic. and I'm not complaining about the weightloss. I feel healthy but am slightly concerned that my head will look like an orange on a toothpick. i am still preoccupied by thoughts of douchebag when I know I shouldn't be. I e-mailed him the other day with some really pathetic message and i know i shouldn't have. I saw his IP address in the sitemeter today, so I'm assuming he read the e-mail and was wondering if I was going nuts or something. It was linked to the old address which is still up (i don't know how to get rid of it), but it no longer updates when I update. If he was resourceful he would just go to Junky or Fish's website and link back to the new site, but I highly doubt that he cares that much.

sometimes i feel like a big giant idiot for caring so much about douchebag. even now, even though I'm convinced that he never really felt the same way that i felt, i still care. and i still miss him. i am such a sad charachter. i had lied to my cousin and told her that he was away on a conference in Chicago because I didn't want to get into this discussion with her, and here I am blogging about it.

she's gone and done it

so weeks after i said i would make changes, i've finally started in on phase 1. I changed the blog address. i had mentioned it breifly to Junky the other day and brought it up again tonight with Russ. My reasons for changing the address...well my one reason for changing the address...douchebag. Even though i'm 99% sure that he no longer access this blog, it would be best to assure myself and be 100% sure. So with Russ holding my cyberhand i changed it. link it, bookmark it, tell your friends. selinakyle7. thank you.

this is strange for me because it cuts off all remainin contact with douchebag. which is a good thing. i was watching Wife Swap with Milla and Alex tonight after the Benefactor and the farm couple were just too cute. They adored each other so much and they really knew that they were the one for each other. They weren't scared of each other or running away from each other. It was just love and it was really amazing to see that.

I even created myself a little nook by the window to smoke. I was pleased as to the amouont that could be shoved under my bed. tomrrow i hit the tough jobs; the bathroom and kitchen.

And then wake up and find out it's only stats can wanting to know your statistics. So i threw the envelope back out into the hall and i called the number that the fucker left and left a horrible horroble message, with swear words...on a government answering machine.

fantasy b-ball

the boys and i had to resort to fantasy basketball instead of fantasy hockey this season. it was quite sad, but it still affords us the oppourtunity to keep in touch...under the guise of some sport. I think half of the enthusiasm towards a sport is for the game, the other half is for being able to hang out and chat with your guy friends. It's nice to still be considered one of the guys...even though i've gotten girlier and girlier in the years since high school. The draft is on the 24th, Go Team Angel Cake. We're #1!

Stella sent me this site, I'm not sure exactly what it is and I have yet to decide if it's creepy or funny. You can even print out your own chicken mask!

Junky paid a visit today and we hald a rollickin good time as usual. We hit Tims for some nourishment and all was well until it was time to leave. Somehow my purse (the infamous cat purse) got stuck in the radiator by the window. The chain had slipped in and got caught. After a minor stuggled the purse was released, but for a moment there was slight panic.

Later in the evening i watched the debate via c-span on my laptop. me, dubya, and kerry all in my bed. It was an interesting evening...full of more laughs than I thought possible in a presidential debate. I am constantly thirlled by Mac's performance so far...the broadcast was excellent, the picture kind of fuzzy...but there was nothing special to look at, and the audio wasn't interuppted by msn or while i was surfin the net.

happy thanksgiving

I am sitting here blogging right next to the shirmp ring. I figured that blogging would stop me from filling up on the little shrimps but i could bring myself to sit too far away from it. i am thankful for: (in no order)

-variety: it is the herb...err...spice of life
-mac: my surrogate boyfriend/laptop
-music: for inspiration and entertainment
-my friends: who have been with me through this amazingly crazy year
-my mummy and daddy: they're the best
-flan: it's just so delicious

it's not rocket science

it's a digi cam. just press the big button. dont' ask me questions. just do it. three times today we asked someone to take a photo for us and 3 times they looked at the camera like i presented them with my own severed off limb or something.

The first time the guy didn't speak english. so the confusion was slightly understandable.

the second time, well the guy didn't speak great english, but he kept on insisting that he couldn't see anything. of course you can't, the club is dark, just press the button and the flash will go off. dont' complain to me for 5 minutes how you can't see anytying. i kept on screaming at him. just press teh button. just PRESS IT!. and he took so long the battery ran out.

the thrid time, we asked the concierge downstairs to do it, and he wanted to know where teh zoom was, i said, no we want a body photo. please JUST PRESS IT! but he took so long staring at the freaking thing that it shut off again.

so next time someone asks you to take a picture. just press the freaking button. it's just camera, it's not gonna bite.

thank you. happy thanksgiving.

oh no! not the bourbon!

shit. i was cleaning the kitchen and i knocked over a bottle of fancy old bourbon. My parents collect these china liquor bottles, I'm not sure if they like them or if they are worth something...but they've always just been around. I picked up the bottle and saw that i cracked the bottle, it was right through the head of the football player (it's a bottle from the Feista Bowl). I examined it and thought it was fine. I kept on cleanng and a few minutes later, I started to smell bourbon. I looked at the poor football player with his head cracked open and saw that the crack actually ran down the bottle. And then at some point, the crack started to move horizontally around the bottle as well. The alcohol had started leaking everywhere! I panicked and ripped the plastic cover off and tried to open the bottle to salvage what bourbon i could. As i oopened it, the crack got bigger and bigger, and more bourbon began to escape. I finally managed to save about 3/4 of the bottle into a large daisani water bottle...but not before dousing me and my kitchen with bourbon. I left the house for Dominion and the LCBO reeking of the stuff.

he stank up our toilet!

Milla and I met a friend at a club this evening. There was an event that resulted in the crowd being mostly male (and really well dressed ones). We headed for the ladies room upstairs, which was near empty and were surprised to be faced with a man. He looked at us stunned, we barged in past him, and it wasn't until he left that we smelled the horrible odour. Then Milla and I looked at each other horrified, both thinking the same thing: Ew groos! That guy came in here to stink up our toilet!

Wayson Choy!

I read Wayson Choy's Jade Peony several years ago for class and I loved it. He wrote a sort of continuation of the story called, All that Matters. It's the same story as in his first novel, but from the perspective of another charachter. It was shortlisted for the Giller Prize today. Hooray for our Asian brothas representing on the Canadian lit scene. They announce the winner on Nov 11.

web cammin' it again

I'm not sure exactly how long it's been since I've had Mac, but it just became too much. I HAD to use my webcam, so hours later i got my desktop set up and was saying hello to Stella in taiwan and later on tonight I'll get a tour of C's dorm room in Manchester. i didn't realise that I would miss my desktop so much. Now i must tackle these router issues.

note to readers

the hallowe'enn donut at Tim's does not taste as appetizing as it looks. yes, it appears quite exciting with the orange pumpkin and black bat sprinkles, but dont' be fooled. It will taste like a mouthful of crunchy sprinkles rather than a nice glazed donut.

teenile?

I was walking to school today up some little side street. On the wall there were these posters for Barbie Fashion, i'm assuming availible in wal mart or zellers or some other fine retailer. I'm check out the little girls in these ads and i realise that this one girl is practically wearing the same outfit as me. The next time i have to decide between the sweater and the cord blazer, i'm going with the blazer...as to prevent myself from being totally teenile.

it's winter!

it's not autumn, it's winter! Last night Boston took me out for my walk around the block and it was more than brisk, it was cold. This morning when I woke up I had flashbacks to when i was a kid in our house in RH, i would wake up and it would be freezing, and i would spend 10 minutes just trying to work up the courage to slip out of bed. Somtimes i would grab my clothes and get dressed under the coves cos it was that cold. This morning I only dreaded getting up from under the covers for about 5 minutes. Ironically the same reason I'm gettinn up now, is the same as it was 15 years ago...school.

yesterday junky came to visit and we had a blast, she had gone shopping so it was like i was vicariously shopping through her. I got my shopping fix by looking through her purchases and can avoid going on a spending spree for a little longer.

evening walk

i was going to forego the evening walk today. I had gone out for cigarettes earlier only to find that I had no cash and ended up having to walk to somewhere that woudl accept Visa. But I went out anyways, since i had several people inform me that it was brisk out. I like brisk, when fall is in swing it allows me to bring out winter wear, which expands my wardrobe x2. So I went out and I concur; it is indeed quite brisk.

highlights from Futurama Vol. 4

went out for a little stroll around the block this evening. Stopped by HMV and saw that vol. 4 of Futurama was out. Some highlights from disc 1:

fry: so this is your lair?
zookeeper:of course not, you think I'd show you my lair? My lair is a million times nicer than this.
fry: okay, take it easy.

Leela: I'm sorry you saw that Fry, I usually try to keep my sadness pent up inside where it can fester quietly as a mental illness.

Professor: Remember we've got to show these people that we're not bitter husks of human beings who long ago abandoned home of finding love in thsi life time.

Leela: Man, i'm sore all over, i feel like i just went ten rounds with Might Thor
Fry: I feel like I was just mauled by Jesus

disturing developments

Milla went to pick up some office things in the afternoon for work and she went to this building that is just next to our building. While talking to the lady there she had mentioned that we just live down the street, the next building over. And then the lady she was speaking to said that the people in the building across the street form her have telescopes pointed at my building and that soemtimes she sees people peak through the blinds with them! People are watching me! I feel so violated, I never want to open my window again. Now honestly what are the chances that someone would see anything. I'm so paranoid about being by the window already and every time i try to see stuff in other peoples windows i never see anything. only people watching tv. but still the idea that some Rear Window shit is going on across the street from me freaks me out. I should start growing plans by the windowsill.
