swearing at seniors
Went to Loblaws with NW to return a broken bottle of Tabasco. Downstaris they had these ppl giving away toronto stars. We said no thanks. Later leaving the store i'm grabbing two cigs out for our walk home and the old dude giving away the newspapers says, "smoking is bad for you!"
I was shocked. SHOCKED. Who even says that to ppl anymore? Like maybe in the old days when that was trendy to tell ppl that smoking was bad. But yes. We know. It is our choice. And don't use the healthcare argument with me. Who the hell do you think pays for it? Smokers do, cos a pack of smokes is nearly $10. We pay more than our share of healthcare so we're not an extra stress on the healthcare system. without smokers the government would be out billions.
So this was my exchange with the old guy:
old guy: smoking is bad for you
me: fuck you
although I think sweet, kindly NW was saying something nicer so old guy didn't hear me. That is unfortunate.

are you with rbc?
the answer is yes. yes i am. especially if answering yes gets you a free piece of cake and a can of c plus.
went for my performance meeting at work today and me and my manager went up to the floor where there are the conference rooms. What's set up in front of one of the conference rooms? A little snack table. I scan it quickly, see several things i would like to grab. So after our meeting I went back and started picking up a slice of cake and this dude comes out of no where.
"Hi can I help you?" he asks. I just smiled and asked how he was as picked up the cake. We chat a bit and then he asks me again how he can help me. he is working up the courage to ask if i'm with RBC. I say I'm taking a drink and i start walking away with the stolen goods in my hands. (which really would have gone to waste anyways!) and then he asks me if I'm with RBC. yes of course i am! but if you see me in the hotel tmrw it's cos i'm here for another coference. not for my shift!

stormtrooper new years celebration
Attended nw's stormtrooper party today, it was out in a hotel in scarb. somewhere. I wore my new gold bolero and my heavy weight champion of the world belt (it's kind of like a bad 80s belt that Jem would have worn, but in black). I put the outfit together under pressure cos I had totally forgotten about the event. I liked it at the time but now looking back I think I might ahve looked like a transvestite.
There was a lot of standing around at the beginning. It was a Monte Carlo theme so there were gambling things but there were too many ppl for the amt of tables. The dudes with the finger foods were scarely seen. The meal was good. Scammed an extra dessert. Didn't win any prizes, I think the raffles were rigged anyways. Like, the secretary of the president won. Smoked where i wasn't supposed to smoke. Was impressed by what good small talker one of nw's co-worker was. Gossiped about co-workers. Saw some cute asian girl in a nice irridescent purplish/pink slip dress with some fur on it with tan winter boots. V.frontier. I loved the outfit.
Oh and I almost forgot. There was this one girl there where I was wondering if she was thre with her dad or if she were his date. Later we were out smoking together and noticed that she had opened toed shoes on. In winter. Without pantyhose. I dunno if that I'm old fashioned. But I didn't like that. That was the whole reasonI wanted to blog. To get that off my chest.
Left before the big giveaway in the evening. By the time the towncar arrived it was almost give away time. I kept bugging nw to go back to see if we won the tv. But he didn't want to wait 5 more mintues. Went to Tim's to get a chocolate cheeese cake thing and I just emptied the change in my purse to pay for it before the dude rang it in. When he rang it in i thought i had exactly the change there in my hand. I cursed nw for not staying to win the tv. our luck was wasted away on that. I was wrong. i had 1 cent xtra. So the tv wouldn't have been mine. I mean nw's, afterall.

don't call me again or I won't vote for you
Got home today after a few days at the Fortress and found my answering machine nearly full. Curious. I have paid all my bills. What sorts of ppl would be calling me now? I play the msgs, and it's the political party that i support. Y'all have my support. What the hell else do you want from me? Dont harass me at home or I'm gonna vote Green. I swear I will. I know that is as good as throwing my vote away but voting for this certian party is about as good as throwing my vote away anyways. They don't even leave a number for me to call them back and tell them to quit harassing me. Call one more time and I'm not gonna vote for you. And really, what does this say about the political parties we have to choose from? Not much difference if my vote can be swayed by annoying phone calls. All I really see in a bunch of annoying looking white dudes who don't give a shit about me.

time wasters...
Ned suggested that I should put up the funny links I always send him on my blog. So here are a few to start off.
- Stel's little sis Es sent me this last night, check out these dance moves.
-I forget who sent me this but Boston and I both liked the music.
-Ruby sent me this Chronic of Narnia skit. Hilarious. While I was in America I kept on calling 10 dollar bills Hamiltons.
-I think this one is an old one but still funny everytime I watch it. I luv how they guys are both wearing Yao jerseys

Rome
The HBO series Rome just came on Rogers on Demand (which i have at the Fortress) and NW and I have been devouring it. I'm totally obsessed but now I only ave 3 episodes left until the last one. Then no more until 2007. It's good but for the most part I already know waht is going on with the non-ficticious charachters. With the others you can predict it cos you know conflict is the best part of a good drama.
Saw Junky today. Yay! So happy to see her. Looks the same, just more tanned. Sadly I got no kangaroo sac. But having her home is present enough.

*drool...*
Things that I have been thinking about...
-i love this lesportsac fanny pack-like bag...worn cross chest. much more chic for travelling with than my black mountain equipment co-op bag, safer too cos it's not a clip closure in the back.
-i remember the time where I would never be caught in skinny leg jeans. the wider the better. I used to wear bell bottoms so big that when it rained it slowed down my walk cos my jeans got so water logged. I guess I needed them to cover the big hoking ass sneakers I wore. But I'm totally obsessed with skinny leg jeans. Can I find them? No. I must find skinny jeans.
-i saw Blink on my kajillion hour layover in the airport bookstore. It's written by the same guy who wrote The Tipping Point. The book is about the power of thinking without thinking and i know he'll have those really cool anecdotes that were in the Tipping Point. I really like his writing style, it's like he's there telling you this story over coffee. You react to the story and he keeps building on it. I like him but i'm still not really ready to pay $25 american for him. So I'll go to the used bookstore soon. I was willing to pay almost $25 cdn for Gandhi's autobio, recomended years ago by one of my Profs. It's quite good so far.
-DVDS: Teen Titans: Season 1, Simspons: Season 7, Batman: the Animated Series Vol.4, Family Guy vol. 3, Star Wars: Episode III, Robots.
-I bought this eyeliner in the jackpot colour in Vegas. Good to know that I haven't lost my touch cos it's sold out on line. Love the little dice on the handle. Now i'm in lub with this body spray with the unfortunatly lame description. It's all about the avocado and apricot oils. Can do with out the sparkles but hey, I guess you can never have too many sparkles (i possibly am borderline too much sometimes). I am also a sucker for these sorts of products, prefoundation shit that always never works, but I don't knwo why I think a new brand will. Again, the fancy oils excited me.
-I love the Pebl,. I must have it.
-Boots, boots,boots, and more boots.

wha?
Was watching Legends of the Fall with the girls tonight and we had the different subtitles on to see what it would look like. When we got to the ones that were charachters instead of words, like chinese and korean and thai i started to have a hard time understanding what the ppl in the movie were saying. I dunno if they were all just mumbling in the movie or if my brain was having some sort of inputting error. It was scanning the charachters and i couldn't understand it. Therefore the sounds that the actors were making no longer sounded like english to me. As soon as we got rid of the subtitles I could understand them again. So much for learning Thai thru dvd subtitles.

finally
I can finally post about my travelling because it no longer angers me so much that I want to rip eveyone at United's head off. So I was supposed to leave LA at 9am on the 2nd. We were delayed because of weather in Chicago. What sort of weather? It was unspecified. But apparently it was so bad that O'Hare had to shut down for a while. So many flights out of LAX were delayed that landing planes had no gates to go to so they packed us up onto the plane and then taxi'd to the serivce hanger, where we sat on the plane for 2 1/2 hours. They played a movie for us, beginning to end and we still didn't take off. Finally at 2:30 we leave for Chicago. We get there and there was no weather. Spoke to passengers who were from the area and they said there was no weather. I suspect that O'Hare was just understaffed for the volume of flights.
So I run over to the last flight to Toronto. Get on standby, am one of the few ppl to get on the plane and we sit there. We sit on the plane for over an hour. If we had taken off we would have been in Toronto by then. So at 11:30 the pilot comes out and says to us, Sorry I've been flying for over 16 hours now and it's FAA regulation that I can't fly after that. If we had taxi'd out earlier we could have left but now we can't. Get off the plane. So I had to sleep in Chicago. They got hotels for us, but the flight was at 7am the next morning. It was past midnight by the time we got everything arranged. First the lady wouldln't book me for the 7am flight that everyone else on my flight was booked for. She said that I was standby so I had to take the 11am one. I spoke to other standby folks and they all had 7am flights. So i got back in line and a man helped me and he gave me a seat. There were still seats and this lady would not let me on to this 7am flight. The next day there were more empty seats! It baffels me still why this lady would not put me on the 7am flight. I was lucky that I spoke to other standy by'ees to find out that they got on. I didn't get it. Why???? Ok so it still pisses me off thinking about it.
Anyways, I decided to stay in the airport. I'm one of those ppl who can sleep comfortably anywhere, anytime. I wander around a bit. I had bought a $40 phone card that only gve me at most 10 minutes of talk time. They charge you like 5 mins from the card just calling from a pay phone and forget calling out of the US! By the end of the ticket ordeal I had to call my folks collect. They were worried sick about me having to sleep in the airport. I couldn't even call Canada collect from the pay phones. i had to get the guy who arrange my ticket to ring up NW for me. he let me use the phone behidn the counter. During my wanderings I saw the lady at the gate who had helped me get on standby and I went over and thanked her for her work. I knew it had to be a hard day and I'm in service as well so I know what assholes ppl can be. She was so touched that she went to go get a few pillows and blankets for my sleepover. I passed out around 1, woke up for a bit in the middle of the night and watched CNN about the miners. Fell asleep again until about 5:30 when ppl started shwoing up in the airport.
And ppl are assholes. A whole bunch of us were sleeping in this section near our gate and ppl just came and sat down amongst us. Like HELLO! there are a jillion seats all over the place. Why sit amongst a bunch of sleeping ppl and crinkle your McDonalds/Starbucks bags and wake us? You fuckers. This famiiy with two young kids sat down across from me and their screaming woke me up. I moved elsewhere and slept for a little while longer (I had seen taht duty free opened at 6am). Got up went to Duty free. Was it open? no. Finally got on my flight. Which was delayed again for reasons unknown. Finally got back to toronto at about noon. almost 24 hours later than I was supposed to get home. Two of my suitcases were waiting for me on the coursel when i came out of customs. All 3 of mine were maked priority so I thought great, i jsut have to wait for one more and I'm outta here. I wait and wait and wait and wait. Any suitcases? no. The next flight's baggage was coming and so i went ot the counter and find out that my last suitcase is still in Chicago. like WTF? i was in chicago for so long, how did my luggage get lost.
So I finally got home. But not before a lot of screaming and wasted money on phone cards. Two things I need before I travel again: a cell phone and a direct flight to my destination (not with United).
So I got back to work a few days a go and there are welcome back notes for everyone in the comm book. Is there one for me? Nope. I'm crying inside. i really am. -insert eye rolling emoticon here- Thank god that these ppl realise just to leave me the f alone.
Happy new year!
