bye bye smoking rooms
I'm specifically sad to say bye bye to the impressive smoking room in the Royal Bank building on Front. What will become of it? That smoking room sheltered me all winter while I worked down there. Everytime I couldn't stand another second being in that freaking store I would close up shop and take refuge there....smoke a cig...and go back and things wouldn't be so bad.I still don't understand this smoking ban. Wasn't there already a smoking ban a few years ago? We're already not allowed to smoke anywhere. So where are we allowed to smoke now? I thought we were just allowed to smoke on the street anyways. Lotsa coverages about this smoking ban but what are the rules exactly?
Yesterday I walked right thru the turnstile on the subway and didn't pay the the guy freaked out. So what? Since the strike you're suddenly allowed to argue about fare again? how long did that last? 2 days? screw you ttc. Plus my stop was filthly! You'd think after they'd been shut down for the day they would be clean!

x3

Went to see X3 last night. It wasn't great but it wasn't bad. I didn't really feel like there was a story but they could have done a lot worse. It was entertaining, lots of Hugh to look at. Found it odd how his shirt and his flesh were ripped off but his jeans miraculously stayed intact. In the end there was a tiny patch missing from his jeans...a tiny tiny one that wasn't high up enough on his thigh. I liked how Jean mostly just stood around, usually she's great to look at but unbearable as an actress...this time they did the keanu/matrix thing...say the least amount possible.
So there is supposed to be this big thing after the credits but everyone is hush hush about, I'll tell you waht it is...cos its not worth staying behind for...xavier is alive. if you think jean/phoenix actually killed him. Nope. he's inhabiting the body of that guy at Moira's facility. That's what the clip reveals. dont' stay for the credits. Just go home (or sneak into another movie).

where are my smokes?
I decided to head out early to enjoy the weather before it got too hot (i'm never happy its always too hot or too cold) and I bought a new pack of cigs. I was gonna enjoy one in the sun and sit in the parking lot next to my building. When I sat down I thought strange, I sat down pretty easily with a pack of smokes in my pocket. I looked around and they were no longer there.I backtracked my route and found them there on the corner of the street. I opened the pack just to make sure that it was mine. I went back to my spot in the parking lot but birds had come to eat out of the garbage and I noticed a few ppl out on their balconies looking at me so I finished my smoke and came back inside. Forget going outside if I'm just gonna lose my cigs!

visiting
Junky came to visit yesterday and we had a grand ole time. As soon as she arrived I put on the Clone Wars cartoons. Finally someone who could enjoy it with me. It was even better watching it all with someone else! For intermission from the 4 hours of cartoons we headed out to lunch on Baldwin where Junky treated me to a yummy pulled pork sammich. I think later there was more cartoons and a shirmp ring but it gets kind of fuzzy. but fun times.a*c at 12:53 p.m.

uh oh
NW and I said that we would quit smoking after we ran out of duty free cigs. Well, I never said I would quit. I said I would cut down dramatically. But I think we're down to the last two packs. It's time. Is that win a car thing still going on?a*c at 12:22 p.m.

concert

As a comfort present for missing out of Sam Roberts, NW got us tickets to the Xavier Rudd concert tonight at the Phoenix. I stalled and stalled finally figuring that we'd show up in the middle of the opening act. But we showed up and we were still early! Jeremy Fisher opened and he was on the stage for maybe 25 minutes. We googled him before and I read that he did his last tour on his bicycle. He rode to raise money for girls in ghana. He was pretty good, great lyrics, but a little pop-py.
Xavier Rudd was totallly amazing. I discovered him while on a folk kick. I think he is aussie and is married to a canadian chick. He plays all sorts of instruments, including digeridoo, guitar, percussion, harmonica, he had this staion set up where he just sat and played. He was a one man show and he was soooooo awesome. It got so hot in there and you were put into this kind of trance and you just danced a long to his music. He put out this great vibe and it was such an awesome show. He had an Aussie aborigine come out before the show and bless us with the good spirits and he totally did. This is why I love small venues!
on another note, I used my new Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation tonight and it was magic. I have heard lots of great things about it and grabbed it on my trip. I evened out my skin tone and gave me this nice dewey glow. It was like I was a teenager again. It helped mask the jetlag and post-poisoning blahness. Even after hours and hours of sweat (Xavier played the longest encore set EVER!) it still looked the same!

uuuhhhhhhhHhhhHHhhhhh part deux
NW and I are taking turns not feeling well. Yesterday we spent in our room going totally stir crazy. We felt so much better than over night, but since we had been up all night it felt like we had been stuck in our room for hours!!! We stayed on a diet of watered down gatorade. He had a nutrigrain bar and I against Junky's advice had some beef jerky. God damn it tasted good...but bad idea!!!! NW's folks finally returned from the Poisners (aka newlyweds) bbq around 8pm and we gladly rushed up to their suite...just to get out of ours! This morning we woke up feeling a lot better. I knew I was better cos I was finally feeling cold again. When inside in Vegas I'm always cold. So i turned down the AC and had some of the crackers that NW's folks had got us the night before. After they came up from breakfast they had brought us some fruit. I went out for a walk with NW's sister and I felt alright. We went downstairs to share a wonton soup. Our tummies felt fine afterwards but we were both so sleepy. AFter 12 hours of sleep we figured there would be no way that we woudl be tired agin. But we ended up goign down for a 2 hour nap.
Then we moved rooms to a big suite with a jacuzzi tub. After my nap I was feeling kinda sour again, I wasn't sure if it was cos i wasn't ready for solids or if it was because I was still hungry. We attempted a walk but I really wasn't feeling good so we came back up to our room and ordered some room service. Up until then NW was feeling alright, but after I ate my congee I felt great! So now it's my turn feeling alright and NW is lying in bed waiting for the kaopectate to kick in. I don't mind calling it a night. Thank god we're in a new room!
Tmrw is our last day, I don't have high expectations. I'm just hoping to feel better before we get on the red eye back to the T dot. A a side note, me...the one who cannot resiste spoilers...saw that there was news about survivor. Yes I PVR'd it all but i still spoiled it for myself. My hunny bunny Aras won!! Who would have thought! I shoudl have gone down to sports betting to see what the odds were! Aras probably would have made me some money!

UHHHHHhhhhh
So as i was saying at the end of the last post...I wasn't feeling well. After I finished blogging last night I visited the bathroom and ended up staying there all night with stuff coming out of either end of me. NW came home around 2pm and by 4am he and I were fighting over who would be using the toilet. We was poisoned!I was a huge baby, I cried for my mom and cried for Milla, Ruby and Junky. Poor NW could do nothing but continue barfing. We consoled each other in between our sprints to the bathroom. Finally 7:30am rolled around and we called NW's mom to take care of us. She brought gatorade.
now we're contemplating the room service menu. I'm a jillion times better than last night but still far from 100%. and what up with msn? where is everyone?

las vegas...so far...

That's the view from our hotel room, our 3rd and final hotel of the trip. NW and I finally decided to get internet cos we finally actually have downtime now that the wedding is done. He's gone down to meet his cousins for a drink. I initially wanted to go dancing tonight but no one else was up for it. I wasn't up for going downstairs to sit around drinking a virgin drink or water...since thats all I've been doing since we got here. I'll wait to get gussied up for dancing.
First of all it's friggin hot. Each day here keeps on getting hotter and hotter. Today I think it was over 100 degrees. I don't know what that is in C. But I see that it's 11C in Toronto at the moment. It's 32C here and it's nearly midnight. The first night NW and I got in late, we waited and waited for a shuttle bus but nothing came, finally we shared a cab with a lady that we had befriended in the smoker's lounge in T.O., we walked around for a bit and finally went to bed around 2am.
As soon as I had fallen asleep there was a big explosion. I could swear that I could feel the bed moving. Then there was another even bigger one, and again the bed was moving and I could hear car alarms going off outside. We were totally woken out of a deep sleep and we had no idea what the sound was. Thunder? Army training? Terrorists? Earthquake? A building being imploded? None of these answers made us get up out of bed or anything. It ended up being the last one, as we walked by the building that used to be there on our way to breakkie we saw that it was all rubble. Too bad we didn't know about it or else we could have gone and watched!
Hmmmm..what else has happened...i've done a ton of shopping. I can't shop anymore cos nothing fits in my suitcase. I'm gonna have to wear half the stuff back home. On the second night after dinner NW and I went upstairs in our hotel to the arcade. it was also the rollercoaster entrance. We thought for sure the rollercoaster would be closed so we were playing some of the games. I ended up winning 4 Batmans in the claw machine thingee. It's good to know that batman loves me as much as I luv him! The rollercoaster ended up being open and I was so excited! We got on it and as we were going up the giant giant giant drop I began regretting my decision. I had been all excited to ride this rollercoaster that snakes around New York New York casino since it had opened. but no one ever wanted to go on it with me. (no one being my parents). My eyes remained open for maybe 3 seconds. The rest of it, I spent praying for the ride to be over while my skirt was up flying in the Las Vegas night. I nearly pee'd myself! My legs were like jelly when we got off. NW loved it and said the view was amazing. I opened my eyes at one point and only saw a building flying towards my face. All I can say is never again! But I do recommend it for anyone else.
The wedding was interesting, but i have learned if you dont' have anything good to say say nothing at all. The chapel was great, the groom was handsome, the food was great, I ate too much mini bruschetta and have heartburt now.
So NW's fam is super nice. They are all really cool and laid back. His Aunt called me by his ex's name today, but she also called me by her daughter's name as well so I won't hold it against her. (but I am waay prettier and taller than his ex!) I think that is all for now.
Oh! I almost forgot...at our second hotel...Stardust we checked in early so i room hadn't been made yet. Taht was fine, we left and got on with our day and when we got back, the room was made up but still disgusting, half used toilitries, dirty kleenexes...It was late so we just went to bed. When I got up int he morning I saw ants crawling out of our sink. That was just too much so I went to complain. I thought they were gonna give ups buffet tickets or something. Nope. Instead the moved us to a room across the hall. I giant room 3 times the size of my condo! I walked in and looked around and saw a dining table, 2 sofas, a coffe table, a bar, bar stools, then i find the bathroom taht leads into the open closet, that leads into the bdrm, which is just like our old room. The bdrm lead out to the living area again. I peaked out our window...a patio...right out to the pool! It was great! Too bad we were only there one night.
Ok now I think that is all. That bruschetta is really making me not feel well!

packing
I'm finishing up the last bit of my packing. I went down to the storage room to get my suitcase and the dude who manages the parking space where our storage is was zooming around in his golf cart thing. He caught me on the way back and gave me a ride back to the elevator. It was fun although we were almost run over by a truck.Currently there is a huge pile on the floor. I've still got to go through them and make outfits. My toiletires bag is humongous. I don't think I could ever backpack. Packing light? there is no such thing to me.

extensions: part ii
So I went in for an eyebrow wax before vacation and my eyebrow wax lady tells me they're getting eyelash extensions in. I had just laid down in the bed and she pointed to her eyelashes. They were so long! I tell her that I was gonna buy some fake ones and she said no. I must get extensions. I had been flipping through the water wrinkled vogue and saw an article on eyelash extensions. Apparently it's the new hot thing. So when I left i booked an appointment to go in and get eyelash extensions on Monday. It's what every asian girl with no eyelashes needs! so I am ending up with some sort of hair extension. It's just a much smaller, more affordable scale.a*c at 7:20 p.m.

blub, blub, blub

that is the sound of my vogue sinking to the bottom of the bathtub. Now i'm flattening it out under other magazines. Hopefully the pages won't be stuck together. On a side note, Kiera Knightly should do a mermaid movie.

extensions!
Ok so a few months ago I got this brilliant idea to cut all my hair off. Stella had sent me this pic of short hair that looked great and I had always looked good with short hair. I thought I'd cut it off, let some healthy hair grow back. All around good idea right?NO.
Did my hair come out looking like the picture at all? No. Somehow I got bangs. The girl in the picture has no bangs. she has long long hair in the front. And at the time of cutting it wasn't even long enough to pull it all out of my face into a pony tail.
It was horrible. It IS horrible, it's even worse now that it's growing out. Now I've kept this pretty quiet, most ppl who have't seen me don't even know that I got my hair cut. If I have it my way no one will ever know this has happened.
Short hair sucks ass. It's too much work. For some reason I remember it to be little work. With long hair the work you put into it--a few sleeps later it's still there. When you have short hair, you have to do it every day.
I'm goign to the extension place today. Hopefully they'll be able to help me.
