coppers!

Living next to a cop shop doesn't make you safe, it just increases your dislike for coppers. Over the weekend I had to call the cops about a cop car. There was this black VW Golf in the police parking on the side of the street who's alarm was going off incessantly. It would stop and then start up again. It went on like that for almost an hour and I finally called the cops. About a half our later some guy came out and I yelled at him thru the window to turn off his car alarm. he said he couldn't so he was leaving the car unlocked so that it wouldn't go off again.

Then, this morning at 7am a freaking car alarm goes off. What car is it? A VW Golf! Same one. But now it's a differnt colour. It's red now with a white hatch on the back. I was pissed!!!! No so much for me but for poor NW. His only day to sleep in andn this happens. I opened up the window, not caring that I was naked and let out a so many explatives. As a lady; i am embarasssed at my conduct. But WTF!! There was a stupid cop standing by the car and I was screaming my head off. I don't think he could figure out where my evil voice was coming from--which was probably good since i was standing at the bdrm window naked. At one point he screamed: I'm trying to turn it off! I just kept on yelling and yelling. Finally I was fed up and I got up and got dressed and went downstairs with my phone. The copper was gone and the alarm had stopped but I called the cops anyways. i told them that I had called on the weekend and I would keep on calling as long as this noise kept on going on.

When we woke up the Golf was gone. But I know It'll be back. And I'll be waiting...

movie spree

I've been on a movie spree lately. I finally finished The Squid and the Whale with Milla. We had been watching it in parts every time i visited her. For a film where you dislike everyone in it (including the little boy) it's a likeable film. During our lives we all figure out that are parents are not the all knowing, all seeing entities that once thought. They're just people, full of flaws and issues like we are. The film is hilarious at moments and touching as well. You cringe along with all the moments. But I totally missed why it's called the Squid and the Whale.

I also watched Lucky Number Slevin which was surprisingly good. Usually I can predict what happens next but I didn't even want to guess I was enjoying the plot twists too much. I finally got to see Narnia, it was a little slow, but visually amazing. Mr. Tumnus was played by the guy who was in Dune. He looked familiar for the entire film and it wasn't until I IMDB'd it that I realised it was Leto from Children of Dune! And once again Liam Neeson's charachter buys the farm. I swear movies just have Liam Neeson it it to lure me in and then they kill him! Gangs of New York, Kingdom of Heaven, The Phantom Menace (after some screen time) and now this! But at least he comes back to life at the end. I've got to see Kinsey, he can't die possibly die in the first 10 minutes in that one...right??

Sunday night I watched The New World. NW rolled his eyes when he saw the credits, Colin Farrell and Christian Bale. But I'd been looking forward to seeing this flick since it came out I love the Pocahontas story. Q'orianka Kilcher was soooooo beautiful. The entire film was so great. I totally fell in love with it. Everyone must see it! I know I'll be watching it again many times.

Yesterday I caught bits of Seven Years in Tibet on City TV. I enjoyed it but Brad Pitt kind of annoyed me but hooray for D.B. Wong. Although his charachter had an oogly mole on his face it's still good to see the Asian brothers representing.

antarctica

Shortly after watching the making of doc on the March of the Penguins DVD I became obsessed with Antarctica. I think I remeber telling Ruby about how I wanted to go back to school so i could studying something to become one of those ppl who lives in antarctica (ie. scientist, not penguins). Since then the idea of living there has worn off but I still want to go. I'm planting the seed and mentioning the antarctic a lot. I think NW thinks I'm kidding. But i'm not! I must go to Antarctica. It's calling me! The ice, the rawness, the nature, the solitude.

green!

For a moment this morning I thought I was special. I was about to flush the toilet when I noticed a pile of glowing emerald jems in the place where my #2 should be. I washed my hands and put in my contact and took a closer look. Green #2!!!

omg. Am i turning into the Hulk? A leprachaun? Quickly I googled 'green poo' and found that it is not just me. Everyone else has green #2's as well. To confirm this I called NW and asked if he had ever had green #2. He said yes, "for me that's called sunday." So turns out I'm not so special after all.

more world cup

I was just talking to the concierge downstairs about the world cup. i apologized profusely for ruining the score of a game for him last week and promised not to talk to him until the middle of july. He said he missed being back in Englad though cos there is really the World Cup feel over there. I told him that NW had worked his sked around England's games and he said that he used to do the same as well. To prep for a game he used to unplug the phone and stack up the beer and snacks in front of the TV cos he couldn't look away. Now adays we've got pvr so we can just press pause and get a cold drink from the fridge. No unplugging of phones is needed, you just need to switch to silent mode. He also said that women in England hate world cup time. Apparently there are more break ups and 9 months later there are less children born.

In non world cup related news I love Eric Bana. Hulk, Troy, and now in Munich. We watched the over 2 hour long flick on sunday night and I had crazy dreams all night. Sadly Eric Bana did not present himself in any of them. Intresting fact, my dad participated in the '64 and '68 olympics, Munich was the next one...but he was onto Univeristy b-ball by then.

barthez the builder, can he win it?

I'm watching the footy with NW now cos France is playing, they're the only team whom I can name more than 1 player, Thierry Henry, Znedan Zdeen (spellin?) and Mr. Evangelista....Fabien Barthez. I noticed today how much Fabien looks like Bob the Builder! Can't get the theme song out of my head now!

the sims

I made the mistake of installing my Sims games on to NW's PC. I've been Sim'less since I moved to my mac...but no longer. I've been playing for hours and hours! Ruby came over on the weekend to see where I had been hiding and she even got hooked. Last night i saw Russ online *gasp* and he confirmed the crack-like addiction that sims is. He had to uninstall it to escape. Maybe I'll have to do the same!

hostel & heroes

I read about this new show Heroes from two of my fave sites and finally decided to check out the preview. Both Oh no you didn't and Angry Asian Man mentioned it. I liked the little blurb enough, sounded kinda x-men like. But the preview was amazing. Really looking forward to it. Hooray for what Lost has spawned. It's got everyone watching sci-fi and they don't even know it!

Milla brought Hostel over one night last week and we watched maybe the first 40 minutes of it. The the gore started! It was too much! Up until then it was pretty fun. The only reason that we kept it on was because NW had started watching and was into it. Today we went for a walk in Kensington Market and we walked past the little park and there was this smoke stack! Hostel i my own backyard!

ack!

I'm getting old! I found all these old pictures of my daddy and I've been putting them in order and putting them into an album. My daddy has lots of spots and beauty marks (manly marks?) on his face and body but when he was young he didn't. I've always taken after him in most things. I have quite a few beauty marks on my body (most famously my second set of eyes on my right shoulder) and I've been getting more and more each year. I was just in the bathroom and noticed some spots on my face! They're not as bad as my dad's but IT IS BEGINNING! I need some microdermabrasion asap! In the meantime I just smeared acid on them. Hopefully they'll peel off. I'm not ready for spots yet!
