Style: Bags


I love this Fendi "Zucca" small bucket bag. It's got a fresh, great shape and a totally lux design.


I think this Celine "Clandestine" bag is a classic that can be used forever.


This Jean Paul Gaultier "Trench" bag looks like an everyday tote all. Easily matched with everything.


The baby blue trim on this Juicy Quilted and patent Bowler bag is super cute.


The work on this Carlos Falchi square hobo is beautiful.

curly!

Although wavy might be a better description, curly feels more exciting. Milla's acquaintance needed hair guinea pigs for a hair exam at theAveda Academy, the first word to catch my eye in Milla's email was: perm! Perm! Big hair!

I luv big hair!

Sorry. Back to my story. Big hair...perm, 9am was no problem for me to get a perm! I rolled out of bed and briefly contemplated taking a taxi to King E. but walked instead. I actually arrived on time (5 mins late). I was scared at first, we've all had that bad perm. And when I say all...it's men included. Proof: One particular ex had a Michael Hutchense early 90s 'do aka the Michael Bolton or Weird Al. Men can get bad perms too! As a side note I wasn't with him at the time, his mother showed me a photo. We know the pain of a bad perm.

Everything ended up going really well! 3 hours later I had pretty curly hair, I would say the best perm in my life! And I got a free make-up app with Aveda products before I left, to help beautify me before my trek home. I hope my stylist gets an A+ cos I lub the hair. I said this to Ruby and said it was the first time she had heard me say that in eons! Thanks Milla for the heads up and sorry Smelly for taking your perm :(


Essentials for the new 'do:

-Frederic Fekkai Lucious Curl Cream with honey nectar and ginsing.
-Psssssst Instant Spray Shampoo...why? why not? For your inner astronaut? For your inner slob? I love the warnings listed under the ingredients which basically lists: alcohol, alcohol, alcohol...it says do not smokeuntil hair is fully dry. I'm always paranoid about this...after I polish my nails, after I spray my hair. So my fear is NOT unfounded.


-Rene Furterer Okara 2 Phase No Rinse Conditioner because treated hair can never have too much conditioner especially in winter.
-There is no such thing as too much volume, I like Fresh Hair Volumizing Tonic. I like the bottle and simple name.
-Today was the first time I'd ever seen a diffuser used...I think. It was cool and sci fi like!

Style: Knee Boots

I'm so happy with the abundance of boot choices this fall...or should I say winter!! Where did fall go? Anyhow, I'm especially in love with the kneeboot.


I saw a boot like this on MK Olsen and I liked it a lot, nice, modern and simple. Merril "Plaza Peak" boots.


This Kate Spade "Keera" boot is so cute and an easy way to add some colour in the winter.


Aerosoles, so they must be comfy, despite the 3 inch heel. I like these "Highrise" boots in the brown suede.


You can channel your inner Princess Leia in these DKNY "Hyper Speed" Boots. Killer in both the paper white and black.


These Penny Loves Kenny "Bungee" Boot is great but I suspect that in my size they would look like boats.

lashes make a difference!


I splurged a bit today and bought myself some eyelashes, the little individual ones that you can just stick on. Despite the fact that none of them are even and some of them are even on the middle of my eyelid they look great! I feel like Amber Dempsey, the beauty queen with the lethal lashes on the Simpsons. I've always been jealous of NW's lashes, what does he need them for? He's a boy! They're so long and perty, but now mine are too! mwahahah....granted I should have waited for the girls to help me put them on so I won't look like a freak with eye lashes growing out of the middle of her lid.

Style: Dresses

Winter doesn't mean we abandon the dress. We just need the right one, and the right hosiery to match and possibly the right boot...but I'm getting ahead of myself here...dresses:


Marc by Marc Jacobs "Mena" Silk dress- silk is lovely, it helps keep you cool when it's hot and keep you warm when it's cold. This would be great with a grey cardigan.


Twinkle by Wenlan Koi fish hoodie- great as a dress or with jeans or tights, and once again...love the hood!


James Perse Long Sleeve Empire Dress-I am partial to the formless look, I would like this once again with tights, would be cute with fuzzy boots too.


Samantha Treacy "Drake" Silk Dress- What is up with me and silk? I like this print and the flowiness will keep you from remembering to suck in...vital in the winter days of munchign on holiday treats.


Dian von Furstenberg "Hillevi" Chiffon Dress- I like the look it's an industrial looking haus frau piece, like when Pleasantville had all the colour sucked out of it...once again silk!

chocolate!!!

I turned into the chocolate monster today. everyone knows about my sweet tooth...now the students on ryerson campus will know of it as well. NW and I were cutting through there today on the way to Dominion and some guy starts throwing out something, one hits and NW and I see it's chocolate. I stood there waiting for the guy to throw a bag of chocolate at me, but nope, he's yelling at some other guy, I run and jump and snatch the chocolate out of this guy's hand just as he's about to catch it. Rejected!

Yes I know. me running and jumping? very unlikely, but with chocolate...this guy was lucky i wasn't drooling or foaming at the mouth. I got out of there with two bags of free chocolate! hooray!

Don't buy it...



I got this all natural fruit and veggie cleaner so I could start eating more fruits and veggies. Some fruits like Apples and Plums and such make my throat itchy. I figured this spray would help, the first time I used it there was less tingly...it was a plum. The secodn time i used it i followed the instructions thru twice, I sprayed the apple left it for 30 seconds washed it and repeated. Was it still itchy? yes! boo on Nature Clean!

nuit blanche


nuit blanche was a blast, it was shitty weather but I think that got us more into the spirit.We were troopers, Ruby estimated that we walked about 8km from midnight to 4am.

First we hit up the Planitarium to see the sheep.We went through Philosopher's Walk and saw the wish tree, it doesn't look as pretty in the pics as it did while we were there, it had a whole magical feel to it. It didn't feel like midnight at all. There was a video instillation on the half unfinished part of the ROM that was cool.



Then our group of about 10 decided to head up to Yorkville since we were so close, being the dummies that we were we were attracted to a church because of the neon lights, what was inside? nothing! Church things! We was duped! We ended up in a tent with beds near the rocks in Yorkville. Then saw a video of what Yorkville used to be like in the olden days with hippies and police beating hippies. it was cool cos in the background you could see realtime images of the street. The main thing we wanted to see was Pharmacopia...floating pills. They were cool, but maybe not worth the trek up to Yorkville. Although it was almost as fun people watching as it was hunting for the exhibits.

Then we doubled back in search of fog, it was muddy and nasty but the fog still delighted us, especially because of the faint smell of ganja in the air. Oddly after the fog most of us wanted something to eat as we cut through campus we stumbled upon some food trucks. It was like an oasis because we didn't think we'd hit food until Queen street! As we finished up our meals it started to rain. We ducked into a friend's place to warm up and dry off a bit before heading down to find some Elvis exhibit, once again we were tricked by neon lights, apparently that was all the exhibit was about.

We arrived at OCAD around 3:30 am, we wandered around in the crowds, it was like hallowe'en without the costumes, we rested in Butterfield Park underneath the OCAD building and watched people play giant chess. Some cops showed up and tango'd in front of us as we chilled. Then we headed to our last exhibit, a video installation on penguins, gay ones that divorce to escape the tyranny of marriage and decide to run off and live in sin forever.

Around 4am i was the first one to wuss out. My warm bed was just too tempting, the pool party out on Queen West West just felt like a million miles away. I must find out from Milla and Smaish how it was. Besides the sogginess it was a great night, hooray nuit blanche!
